Ausschreibung zum Science Slam on Sustainable Cities, der im Rahmen der diesjährigen Baukulturgespräche des Europäischen Forum Alpbach 2013, stattfinden wird.

Send your CV and a brief exposé about your idea/ project
by 30 April, 2013.

You are young, interested in questions of urban sustainability and studying or working in a related field? You are interested in getting to know people from the same field in an intellectually challenging atmosphere, surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Austrian mountain village Alpbach? You dare to step up in front of them and tell them about your own ideas and projects?
 
We invite you to take part in a Science Slam on Sustainable Cities at the Built Environment Symposium during this year’s European Forum Alpbach, from 29 to 30 August, 2013.
 
You get the chance to present your ideas on urban sustainability in Alpbach according to the Science Slam rules: You have 8 minutes for the presentation (a max. of 3 power point slides with only visual presentations is allowed, if needed) – be creative and give an interesting, entertaining and still substantial presentation! What counts is not only the topic but also the way you present it. The winner will be identified by the audience and be awarded by the European Forum Alpbach.
 
We have already invited some of your competitors: Representatives of well known European architecture agencies will join you in the slam – will you accept the challenge?
 
Your contributions should focus on questions around sustainable cities, for example: the future of traffic, urban adaption to climate change, sustainable consumption and cittàslow, the urban ecological footprint, aspects of local de-growth, ecosystem services in urban environments etc.
In order to take part, send your CV and a brief exposé (approx. 300 words, PDF format) about your idea/ project and the way you want to present it, to the European Forum Alpbach by 30 April, 2013.
We will invite the most promising proposers to participate in the Built Environment Symposium (29 – 30 August, 2013) and present their ideas at the Science Slam.

The Built Environment Symposium at the European Forum Alpbach,
29 – 30 August, 2013
Every summer since 1945 more than 4000 participants from over 60 countries attend the European Forum Alpbach in the mountain village Alpbach in Tyrol, Austria in order to experience high-ranking speakers from the fields of science, economy, politics and art. The Built Environment Symposium is one out of several Symposia taking part during these three weeks of the Forum. It brings together experts from the areas of planning, research, architecture, and politics to discuss current topics in the built environment field.
In 2013, the Built Environment Symposium will take place from 29 – 30 August, 2013 and deal with the topic of Growing and shrinking Cities – Experiences and Challenges.
