The inaugural m20d event was originally conceived as an excuse to play and experiment with snow. With the initial vision of projecting onto snow, a snow cinema was created. It quickly turned into a short film festival featuring a selection of works by a set of internationally acclaimed artists. 12 years later, the festival is still the one and only, that plays with the parameters of a rural landscape, the facts of snow and the aspects of a ski-sport-hot-spot. 

In 2024, the minus20degree art and architecture biennial presents seven artistic works laid out along a walking route. These seven artistic works laid out along a walking route. This year’s theme, Plateau, will be examined by three experts from the fields of philosophy, cultural anthropology and regional studies. The findings will be shared with visitors during Walking Seminars during a stroll through the winter landscape. Students from the FH Münster will be will be serving warm drinks and hot soup in the minus20degree center on Alter Dorfplatz in Flachau, Salzburg.

Die Kunst und Architekturbiennale minus20degree präsentiert sieben künstlerische Arbeiten, die entlang eines Rundwegs angelegt sind. Das diesjährige Thema Plateau wird von drei ExpertInnen aus den Fachrichtungen Philosophie, Kulturanthropologie und Regionalkunde untersucht. Die Erkenntnisse werden während Wander-Seminaren durch die Winterlandschaft mit den BesucherInnen geteilt. Im minus20degree Zentrum am Alten Dorfplatz servieren Studierende während der Festivaltage warme Getränke und heiße Suppe.
