Vortrag in englischer Sprache.

For years, sustainability has been seen by architecture as a worthy but tedious technical and legal constraint. Tick-box regulations have been adopted by a compliant but begrudging profession. Sustainable design was necessary but not sexy – a warming climate wasn't cool. Yet now a growing movement of architects are putting environmentalism back on the agenda and at the heart of a new cultural vanguard which centres human and ecological flourishing. From Degrowth to Feminist Economics and the Green New Deal, new paradigms are unraveling the consensus of yesterday. This lecture explores the joyful, communal and expressive architectural possibilities of a new ecological economy and asks what the architect's role is in reshaping culture in the face of environmental planetary limits.
