CONFERENCE, LECTURES, FAIR

The two-day event at the Museum of Architecture and Design (MAO) in Ljubljana represents the central gathering of the Future Architecture platform. The conference with 25 selected Future Architecture 2020 Call for Ideas applicants and invited guests is one of the most insightful annual gatherings around European architecture and showcases ideas and trends for the future development of the profession.

The selected twenty-five creatives will publicly present their work to the members of the platform and the audience and the Future Architecture members will present their planned activities as part of the 2020 European Architecture Program. Additionally there will be several Focus Talks featuring international and leading architects as keynote speakers, such as:

  • Mariana Pestana, architect and curator of the Istanbul Design Biennial
  • Marina Otero Verzier, architect and director of research at Het Nieuwe Instituut, Rotterdam
  • Léa-Catherine Szacka, an architect, historian and critic, and the author of the book "Biennials/Triennials: Conversations on the Geography of Itinerant Display"
  • Thomas Geisler, design curator and cultural producer, curator of the twenty-sixth Biennial of Design, BIO 26| Common Knowledge, Ljubljana

During the Creative Exchange, the Future Architecture Fair will provide a forum for architects and architecture offices, institutions, producers, curators and other professionals to present their projects, connect and collaborate, and stay up to date on the latest developments in architecture. The highlight of the fair are the Pitch Cocktails, an evening event, at which all the fair participants will introduce themselves and their work in short five-minute public presentations.

HDA is part of Future Architecture, the first pan-European platform of architecture museums, festivals, and producers, presenting ideas on the future of cities and architecture to the general public, co-funded by the Europe Union's Creative Europe Programme.
